WE INVENTED ZION NARROWS OUTFITTING FOR YOU
Our seasonal rental packages, combined with informative Pre-Narrows Orientation provides you with up-to-date conditions so that you can enjoy this world-renowned hike safely and comfortably.
Zion Adventures™ is proud to be the pioneer of Zion Narrows Outfitting; custom designing equipment so that anyone can hike the Narrows at any time of year. Over the years, we have designed, tested and improved the canyon shoes and drysuits that have become the standard in Narrows hiking equipment. Other equipment may look the same, but accept no imitations.
Some choose to hike in their trusted hiking boots or sandals with their favorite backpack, thinking that they will be good enough. Such hikers often return with ruined boots, sore feet, wet phones and soggy, uneaten lunches. Having the right equipment can make or break your day. Recommended equipment is based on water and air temperatures, which vary with the changing seasons.
Reserving Dry Bibs and Dry Suits is recommended October 1st - Mid May.

WHICH GEAR PACKAGE is best?
- Narrows Footwear Package - Always recommended. Your feet will still get wet, but neoprene socks keep your feet warm and are more comfortable than sandy, wet socks. Special canyon boots protect your toes, provide proper ankle support and have grippy soles for walking on canyon boulders. Our custom made walking sticks help you maintain balance & check water depth and are more sturdy than trekking poles for this particular hike.
- Dry Bib Package - Good in fall and late spring when air temperatures are warm, but river temperature is cool. Bibs go up to your armpits and provide a bit more security than just shoes. Some choose bibs in winter instead of a drysuit, however water temperatures can drop into the upper 30s/low 40s and if you aren't careful, you could still get water in them.
- Dry Suit Package - The Kokotat Dry Suit we provide is custom built specifically for the Narrows. It provides you with the most security and assurance. Using a dry suit instead of dry bibs allows you to relax and not worry about water depth since you're secure up to your neck. (It's also really fun to trap a little air inside and float through the deeper pools!)
Note: Dry bibs have latex gaskets on the ankles to keep the water out; dry suits have gaskets on ankles and wrists. Dry gear material provides a waterproof layer but does not provide insulation. You'll want to wear warm layers underneath when air and water temperatures are cool; thinner layers in fall & spring, thicker thermal layers in winter. Give us a call or stop by if you need help figuring out what to wear.

- To be on the safe side, check in with us about the weather. We monitor the weather in the canyon and in the larger drainage area so you can make informed decisions.
