Details
North Wash Canyoneering is a physically exerting style that will push even the most tenured canyoneer. Each full day of thetrip is filled with the descent of an extremely technical, advanced canyon in a remote setting. The conditions in North Wash force teams to work together to achieve a desired outcome.

  • Age 18 or older
  • Must be comfortable swimming in small pools of stagnant water (pond-like)
  • Reasonably fit
  • Comfortable in tight, confining spaces for extended periods of time

LOGISTICAL DETAILS:

  • ZAC staff will arrive in North Wash on Thursday evening around 5:00 p.m. to make camp and cook a simple dinner. We recommend participants camp with us Thursday evening to be well rested for Friday's canyon descents.

  • Camping in North Wash is primitive. There are no on-site facilities, though there is a public vault toilet 5 miles down the road at Hog Springs (thus, the dramatic early morning "Hog Run").

  • Participants should be packed, clothed, and ready to depart for the canyons each day at 8:30 a.m. Please respect your fellow canyoneers by being prepared and prompt.

  • If you have dietary restrictions or strong preference, please provide them to us so we can compose a menu fitting your needs.

Pricing
North Wash Canyoneering is priced at $695/person, including meals, technical gear including: harnesses, devices, helmets, drysuits/wetsuits (seasonally), group camping equipment (as detailed in "What to Bring"), and a 5:1 guest to guide ratio. Minimum of two participants. Maximum group size is 12 to ensure an intimate and flexible experience. Book three or more clients, and receive a 10% discount.


We recommend travel insurance if the trip dates need to change or itinerary modified/cancelled due to weather, logistics complications, or other unforeseen circumstances.

What to Bring
You are responsible for packing lightly AND thoroughly. Your supplies should include:

Participants must bring these items for canyon descents:
  • Clothes that protect the body but will likely be destroyed (tough, old, loose-fitting jeans or slacks, old heavy cotton sweatshirts, old fleece sweater, etc.) A good selection of clothing will allow adjustments to adapt to the weather conditions.
  • Heavy wool socks, preferably one pair/day
  • Two 1-quart water bottles (canyons destroy hydration bladders)
  • Good headlamp w/ fresh batteries
  • Keeper strap for your glasses


Zion Adventure Company will provide:

  • Camp kitchen, including plates, cups, and flatware
  • Canyoneering gear (individual and group items)
  • Canyoneering shoes and socks for everyone
  • Canyoneering packs and drybags
  • Drysuits and/or wetsuits, as needed
  • Healthy food for all meals
