ANGELS LANDING - The Basics in 5 Minutes or Less
Picture
  1. Yes, it's all they say it is and more.
  2. You do need to secure a permit. More info here.
  3. The trail starts at the The Grotto.
  4. It's 1,488 feet of elevation gain in about 2.2 miles. Then, .5 mile on the ridge-line portion of trail to Angels Landing.
  5. This section of trail can be only a few feet wide with very long drop-offs.
  6. If you are really afraid of heights, the last half mile is not the trail for you. However, you can hike the first 2.2 miles and stop for pictures and catch your breath.
  7. The landing rewards hikers with panoramic views of Zion Canyon.
  8. And yes, it's worth the trip. For all the details, click here.
  9. Fun Fact: If you hike to Observation Point on the other side of the canyon, you'll look down on Angels Landing.

Zion's Original Outfitter, Guide Service & e-Bike Rental

In 1996, we opened the first Narrows outfitter and guide service in Zion. Just as we are the creators of Narrows outfitting, we continue to lead the way by providing you with the highest quality products and services. With over 25 years working and playing in this area - and serving more than half a million people - we can guarantee you one amazing moment after another.

How can you get up the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive?
1. Rent bicycles or e-bikes and ride the 7 1/2 miles to the trailhead. The freedom is worth it.
2. During the winter months (except holidays), you can drive your car on the scenic drive.
3. Most of the year the shuttles are running and you will need to take the park shuttle up the scenic drive.

How do I reserve bikes & e-bikes?

Special Note:
Every Kid Outdoors offers 4th graders (and their families) free access to our national parks. Download your voucher here:  https://everykidoutdoors.gov/index.html

Where can I park?

Springdale free town shuttles have resumed. Ride them to Shuttle Stop 3 - and that's where you'll find us.

Springdale requires a fee to park on streets and in lots. Pay at the kiosks and park on Lion Blvd for $12/day.

Current Zion Narrows Conditions

Status: Open or Closed? It's changing - sometimes daily...

Flash Flood Potential
  • Flash flooding during winter is rare, but not impossible. Hikers should still be aware of hazardous conditions; including falling ice, slippery surfaces, and near freezing water temperatures.
  • During the spring, the Narrows generally closes for a few weeks due to snow melt.
Water Temperature
  • Low 30's ℉

Water Flow Rate
  • 134 CFS - That's a  moderate hiking level.
  • The flow rate of the Virgin River has been fluctuating. Zion National Park closes the Narrows if the flow exceed 150 CFS; typically this occurs during rain storms or spring snow melt. In order for the Narrows to remain open, the CFS must remain under 150 for 24 hours. Please stop by for the latest information on projected openings and closures of the Narrows.
  • All about the flow rate (and more) from USGS

Recommended Gear
  • Drysuit Package
  • Skip the lines; reserve Narrows Equipment gear online here

Temple of Sinawava Trailhead Access
  • Ride a Bike - Join the other wise visitors and visit Zion's main canyon on a bicycle. It really is an amazing experience.
  • Drive yourself - Parking spaces are limited due to construction occurring at the Temple of Sinawava. It's worth while to get an early start!
