Five day WFR with WMA

Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the definitive course in medical training for outdoor educators, guides, SAR team members, and others who work or play in remote areas. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical, including all of the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments. This 5-day format is for individuals and sponsors with less time available for on-site training and requires 25 hours of pre-course preparation.

The five day WFR offered through Wilderness Medical associates is the best 5 day curriculum without being abbreviated of content. WMA has been teaching these course for several years now and understand that time is precious. Only their most experienced instructors teach these courses, giving you an amazing breadth of knowledge at a better time value than the often "difficult to make time" for 9-day course. Advance course work is required and each night is accented with homework lessons and thorough attention to detail during class-time.

Comprehensive Instruction

The Wilderness First Responder curriculum uses the principles of long-term care, improvised resources, and varying environmental conditions as the framework for learning. Now the most widely recognized and most often required outdoor leader certification, the Wilderness First Responder course was first developed and taught by SOLO (Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunity of NH) in the mid-1980's. Created to provide outdoor leaders, guides, and rangers with the knowledge needed to deal with crises in remote settings, this 80-hour certification course meets or exceeds DOT (Department of Transportation) National Standards for First Responder with additional protocols for extended-care situations. Today this course is taught by many organizations, all of whom are required to meet the DOT standards prior to issuing certificates to students. The intimate classroom environment makes this training course a great opportunity not only for outdoor professionals, but ANYONE who spends time outdoors and wants to become a stronger risk manager.
