Visit remote and awesome Neon Canyon, a canyoneering and backpacking experience for strong, capable outdoorspersons. While the backpacking route to Neon is not difficult, and the canyon itself is not particularly technical, both the route and the canyon are exceptionally beautiful and rugged, without any civilized amenities to get in the way. The "price of admission" to this stunning landscape is carrying the equipment and food we need for three days to the canyon, and then carrying it back out. Between the carrying, we live a simple backcountry lifestyle, sharing great food, preparing for adventures, and relaxing togegther at the end of long days. This trip isn't for everyone - some people NEED a shower at day's end - but for those able to let go of civilzed niceties, this trip is an incredible, freeing experience.

Led by Tom Jones, author of Zion: Canyoneering and Tom's Utah Canyoneering Guide, North Wash Slot Canyon Weekend is a great way to broaden your canyon experience and challenge your abilities in a remote, little-known desert wildnerness setting.

Tucked into remote slickrock country, far away from civilization, North Wash is home to a wide array of canyons, from casual 2-hour jaunts to X-rated, no-holds-barred testpieces slots. Some slots are so narrow, you have to exhale to squeeze through. Moments later, you might stem (climb) 20 feet above the ground to bypass an even-narrower section of canyon. The next day, we might face pothole after pothole of deep canyon water, using natural anchors, sandbags, and partner escape techniques to negotiate our way through. The variety here is tremendous, trumped only by the distinct beauty and solitude we find in these canyons.
