logo-dark-orangeThe SPGT is for individuals who wish to learn the skills neccesary to guide and instruct rock climbing in single pitch terrain. The SPGT is offered as an add-on to the Top Rope Guide Training course. The SPGT does not include short roping, short pitching, complex guiding, approach and/or descent, or guiding in glaciated environments. The SPGT is specifically developed to primarily address the most widely implemented type of  single-pitch and top rope guiding, commonly referred to as "bottom managed"climbing environments. The training also encompasses implementation of top-managed techniques as commonly needed to safely conduct the guided single pitch and/or top rope rock climbing experience for any client. A primary goal of this training is to provide a forum of open ideas while presenting practical top rope and single pitch guiding skill standards. The SPGT will consist of technical, hands-on top rope and single pitch rock climbing guide training. The training days will consist of discussion of common guide concerns, instructor demonstrations of common guiding techniques and skills, and most importantly, participant practice of guiding rock climbing skills. Lead climbing up to 5.6 is required during the SPGT.
