Expired cards, even by one day are considered ineligible for renewal and must complete the full 80 course for certification. Full Course Students: Students can be registered who are as young as 18 years of age. Some previous experience with CPR and basic first aid is helpful, but not required. No previous study is required for the course. All texts and materials will be issued on the first day of class. |

Each day we will exonerate the topics in greater detail. 1. Describe how injuries occur in the wilderness 2. Describe how to treat heat and cold related illnesses 3. Outline how to improvise by using what is available in the wilderness 4. Demonstrate how to treat near drowning victims 5. Demonstrate how to treat common wilderness dental problems 6. Demonstrate how to treat dangerous insect, animal and snakebites 7. Outline how to treat common injuries that occur to feet 8. Describe diseases seen in the outdoors and demonstrate how to treat them 9. Describe how to treat high altitude sickness 10. Describe how to manage head and neck trauma that is common to outdoor activities 11. Demonstrate how to manage wounds in the outdoor setting 12. Demonstrate how to treat common fractures and dislocations 13. Demonstrate how to pack and organize an effective first aid kit for a variety of settings 14. Demonstrate how to perform common extrication procedures from the back country 15. Outline prevention of injuries in the wilderness 16. Perform CPR in the backcountry |
| » | Students will be awarded the Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certificate and CPR card. In order to qualify for the certificate, students must pass both the written and practical skills exams, as well as participate in each day of the class. Absences will not be excused. This is an intense course. Many students comment the material covered is thorough, but fast-paced. |
| » | You will need: backcountry clothing (waterproof tops and bottoms), warm and dry boots, and lots of layers--weather in the desert in the fall is unpredictable. Bring a water bottle (Stay hydrated!) and your personal mug for tea, cocoa, or coffee. If you own a climbing harness, bring it. |

| » | First day of class will be held at the Quality Inn Conference Center across the street from Zion Adventure Company @ Lion Blvd. Locations may change there after at the discretion of instructors. Multiple outdoor venues will be utilized for practice. |

Due to the limited availability off this class and the large demand for this training, tuition is fully refundable up until 30 days prior to the first day of class. Cancellations less that 30 days prior to the first day of class will result in a 25% cancellation fee. This specific WFR policy supercedes all other Zion Adventure Company course policies. |
