A drive up the Kolob Terrace, or “KT,” road takes you into the alpine desert of Zion. Here, you’ll find the wildest and most adventurous trails Zion has to offer. Alpine streams, conifer forests, abundant wild flowers, and unpredictable weather characterize this high-elevation zone of the Park. Instead of travelling inside canyons, most trails along Kolob Terrace hike along canyon rims, providing views down into the canyons and across Zion’s vast canyon labyrinth. The drive up the KT road, alone, is worth your while (bring a camera!). When summer temperature soar in Zion Canyon, Kolob Terrace offers cooler choices for afternoon hikes.
