The East Side is an entirely different world. While Zion Canyon is a towering gorge of red sandstone mountains, the East Side is a softer landscape of brilliant white sandstone and plentiful intimate side canyons. While there are virtually no official trails on the East Side, every side canyon offers an incredible world of exploration. Pools of tadpoles, tight section of slot canyon, easy scrambles to perfect perches, and a dramatic sense of wilderness await those willing to venture off the road and into the humble solitude of the East Side. While there are few “trailheads” on the East Side, you may park at one of many pullouts along the road and set out on your adventure from there.
