A shorter version of our popular Canyon Adventure Day, this trip takes you into a true super-slot canyon, via rappelling, hiking, and down-climbing, and still makes time for a great hike in the afternoon.

PREREQUISITES
»- No experience required - Age 5 or older recommended
CURRICULUM
»Designed for individuals and small groups who are looking for a fun and adventurous introduction to technical canyoneering. Generally, the day is more fast-paced than a Family Adventure Day with an opportunity to gather with other individuals seeking the same. You will learn and apply: - Knots, ropes & anchors - Belay & safety systems - Rappelling - Canyoneering basics - "Leave No Trace" practices Can provide some of the necessary skills needed to descend the following canyons in Zion: - The "Subway" - Keyhole Canyon - Orderville Canyon If you are looking for qualifications as a self-guided canyoneer after this course, or to attempt more difficult descents than those presented, click back to Courses and choose One Day Basic or Three Day Basic.
EXPERIENCE
»Descent of a canyon that includes, but is not limited to: - 10- to 25-minute hike w/ 200-foot elevation gain - Downclimbing narrow, twisted, super-tight slots - Up to 3 rappels, 20 to 50 feet in length - Possible wading in canyon pools
GEAR
»We provide all the necessary technical gear for your experience, but recommend you bring: - 1 quart of water/person + lunch/snacks for the day - Sunscreen - Good tennis or hiking shoes - Warm synthetic clothes any time of year - Camera
SCHEDULE
»- 7 days/week, year-round - Departs 7:30 am - 4 to 5 hours

»All trips leave from Zion Adventure Company at 36 Lion Blvd., across from the Quality Inn.

»Early reservations advised. Dates tend to book 30 to 45 days out, April through September. Check your calendar and book early.
