Registration is now open for participation in Snow Fest 2011. This will be the event’s third season and organizers are expecting more skiers and snowshoers than last year. The day will have snowshoe races, cross country ski lessons, a sledding hill for kids, and hot chocolate for all. And all of this is free, thanks to the sponsorship of Southern Utah University, the Dixie National Forest, Cedar Breaks National Monument, Topher Mason and Cedar Mountain Ski Club. To register and reserve snowshoe or ski gear, you must call SUU Outdoors at 435-865-8704

Snow Fest takes place in the Deer Valley Non-Motorized Winter Recreation Area. This area is 22 miles east of Cedar City on Hwy 14, up Cedar Canyon and is designated for skiing and snowshoeing, no snowmobiling is permitted and there is a groomed trail and warming hut operated by Cedar Mountain Ski Club on the weekends.

Transportation can also be provided from Cedar City for those wishing to ride up the canyon with someone else driving, and also to minimize vehicle parking at the area. Please call to SUU Outdoors at 435-865-8704 to register for transportation as well.

For questions and registration, call SUU Outdoors at 435-865-8704. We look forward to seeing some of you at Snow Fest!
